Senior Counsel Steven Millendorf has been recognized by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) as a Fellow of Information Privacy (FIP). The FIP designation is available to those who have earned a Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPP/US) as well as a Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) or Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT), all of which are recognized by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) as the gold standard accreditation of credentials for information privacy professionals.
Steve counsels clients on a broad range of security, domestic and international privacy, technology, and intellectual property related issues involving the collection, handling, monetization, and licensing of personal information and intellectual property. This includes advising clients on all aspects of compliance with federal and state data privacy and security laws and industry guidance including the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (CCPA) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). With over two decades of experience as an engineer, he provides a multi-disciplinary, practical approach to client matters. Steve regularly speaks and writes about security and privacy issues and is a Vice Chair of the American Bar Association Information Security Committee as well as the editor of Foley’s Privacy, Cybersecurity & Technology Law Perspectives blog.
Becoming a FIP demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge of privacy laws, privacy program management and essential data protection practices through the successful completion of at least two IAPP credentials and considerable on-the-job experience. The IAPP is the largest and most comprehensive global information privacy community and resource.
