Partner Judy Waltz was quoted in a Revcycle Intelligence article, “Lawmakers Provide Accelerated, Advance Medicare Payment Relief,” about the passage of a continuing resolution that extends recoupment of the Medicare Accelerated and Advance Payment Programs and lowers the interest rate on outstanding balances.
But hospitals and physician practices are unlikely to receive loan forgiveness, Waltz said, because those funds come from Medicare trust funds, not Provider Relief Funds. “Medicare isn’t in a position to do that,” she said. “If [loan forgiveness] were to happen, Congress would have to authorize enough money to make both trust funds whole.”
