Andre Thiollier Profiled for Latino Business Leadership Award
Foley & Lardner LLP partner André Thiollier is profiled in Silicon Valley Business Journal for his recognition as a Latino Business Leadership Awards honoree.
Thiollier described leveraging his unique background and language skills to establish himself as a key Silicon Valley advisor on cross-border transactions throughout Latin America.
“Being a Latin American lawyer, I know the culture and speak the language and that’s a great tool to have to bridge the gap,” Thiollier explained in an interview. “It’s been extremely rewarding, especially when one client recommends you to another and you see the word-of-mouth referrals. Reputation means a lot, especially when you often aren’t face to face with the clients.”
Asked what he loves most about his work, Thiollier said it is the variance across each country that he works with. “The beauty of that is you never have a dull day because you’re dealing with some people who have done this many times and others who are doing it for the first time and what works in Brazil doesn’t necessarily work elsewhere,” he commented.
“We paint Latin America with a broad brush but that doesn’t mean that it’s the same culture across the board and it’s very interesting once you’ve done this for a while to see and appreciate the differences,” he added.
