Foley Chairman and CEO Daljit Doogal Reelected to Second Term
Firm experienced significant growth and transformation in recent years with plans to maintain momentum through increased scale, depth, and collaboration
Foley & Lardner LLP is pleased to announce that Daljit Doogal has been reelected to serve as Chairman and CEO for a second, four-year term beginning May 1, 2026, upon expiration of his current term, and effective through April 30, 2030.
During Doogal’s first term, beginning in May 2022, Foley has steadily grown in profitability, executed upon a strategic plan to support clients in key sectors, expanded its national footprint, and enhanced its collaborative and people-centric culture.
The firm’s total revenue reached a record $1.275 billion in 2025, a 24 percent increase over the last three years, and profits per partner increased 27 percent to a record $2.298 million. Foley also opened two offices in Raleigh, North Carolina and Nashville, Tennessee that align with the firm’s strategic priorities and grew its Salt Lake City office, opened in 2021, to more than 30 attorneys.
“Foley’s culture revolves around people – our own personnel, our clients, and our communities. It’s a privilege to lead this great firm and see it excel as we continue to drive our strategic plan forward,” said Doogal. “Credit for Foley’s accomplishments is all owed to our talented attorneys and business professionals who routinely deliver innovative and impactful solutions to our clients. We are operating from a position of strength and aggressively growing our footprint, but our culture remains the cornerstone of everything we do.”
Since Doogal’s first term began, Foley has promoted 63 lawyers to partnership and welcomed nearly 530 attorneys – including 70 lateral partners and 278 new associates and law graduates – adding more scale and greater bench strength across Foley’s key sectors, including energy and infrastructure, health care and life sciences, innovative technology, and manufacturing. More than 720 attorneys from 27 practice groups – approximately two-thirds of the firm – are now members of at least one sector and support clients in these areas.
“We’ve seen a significant surge in demand for our services in all of these sectors indicating a clear signal that our strategy is succeeding,” said Doogal. “By scaling our operations and deepening our bench, we are better equipped than ever to deliver holistic client service. We are deeply committed to continuing this growth to further strengthen our firm and the value we provide to our clients.”
Laterals benefit from Foley’s best-in-class integration program, a structured and personalized approach to encourage collaboration with colleagues across the firm’s national platform. The program creates an intentional, strategic path for integration informed by individual goals and cross-practice synergies that accelerates business development and deepens internal connectivity.
Last year, Foley also launched PEAK (Partner Excellence Actionable Knowledge), a regular and comprehensive curriculum of programs and resources to support our partners, as well as added additional training programs for associates.
Foley continues to introduce generative AI technologies to increase productivity and recently formed an AI Steering Committee to guide, oversee, and champion the integration of AI across the firm’s business operations and client services. This cross-functional group represents various legal departments and practice groups and is developing meaningful and impactful ways to scale AI solutions more broadly across the firm and embed these tools in workflows. The firm also launched FoleyChat, an internal AI-powered assistant leveraging the latest generation of large language models (LLMs) that operates within the firm’s secure enterprise environment and delivers high-quality responses to use across a wide range of tasks.
“As the legal profession continues to change, we are investing in professional development programs and innovative tools to improve efficiencies and ensure that our attorneys are consistently delivering exceptional service at every touchpoint to meet our clients’ business needs,” said Doogal. “We are committed to using AI in both services provided to clients and business activities to provide the excellence and value our clients demand,” said Doogal.
Foley has also enhanced its responsibility to local communities and the legal profession through civic services and pro bono work. The firm extended its national partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of America supporting youth leadership development with all of the firm’s U.S. offices’ engaging in programs and initiatives that are responsive to the needs in their communities. Furthermore, attorneys gave more than 180,300 pro bono hours over the last three years assisting individuals, legal aid societies, and nonprofit organizations in various matters.
“This is a remarkable period for Foley. We are advancing our goals around our clients, our people, innovation, and investment in our sectors,” said Doogal. “As we develop the firm’s next strategic plan to be introduced next summer, these goals will not change. We will continue to focus on smart and strategic growth, deepening our culture of service excellence and cross-servicing clients, and accelerating our investment in AI and technology.”
