Jeffrey Gundersen Discusses Foley’s Vibrant IP Practice, Life Sciences Hiring
Foley & Lardner LLP partner and Intellectual Property Department chair Jeffrey Gundersen shared insights on the firm’s continued growth in the Managing IP article, “‘Key growth driver’: law firms bet on life sciences talent.”
Gundersen shared the firm is experiencing success across the IP department, particularly within the firm’s key sectors. He said he is seeing accelerating momentum in transactional IP life sciences work, but notes he anticipates a broadening of growth to related litigation services “as companies increasingly protect their innovations.”
“Increased government scrutiny and a more active enforcement environment in certain areas have absolutely made life sciences companies more focused on risk management, documentation, and defensible decision-making,” Gundersen continued, adding that this shows up in “how clients approach IP strategy, competition issues, and diligence in transactions, all areas where they value counsel that understand the regulatory and commercial landscape.”
Gundersen added Foley is always looking to grow its IP ranks to evolve alongside client needs, both through individual or team hires.
