Curt Creely Discusses Tampa Bay Business Growth, M&A Activity and AI’s Impact on Legal Services
Foley & Lardner LLP partner Curt Creely discussed Tampa Bay’s business environment, M&A activity, and the evolving impact of artificial intelligence on the legal industry in the Capital Analytics Associates’ Invest: Tampa Bay.
Discussing the deal environment, Creely noted that while higher interest rates continue to weigh on private equity M&A volume, business remains active, particularly among strategic buyers. “Business continues to be very good and vibrant, both nationally and in Tampa Bay,” he said, adding that Florida “continues to be a great market for our firm.”
Creely also highlighted a shift in how buyers are approaching transactions, noting that they are conducting more extensive due diligence and becoming more selective. “They want to do deals, and they have the money to do deals, but they are not going to do them at all costs,” he explained.
Turning to AI, Creely said the technology is beginning to reshape transactional work by automating processes and reducing workflow steps. “Ultimately, it means we will be able to do more for less money and do it a lot faster,” he said, adding that clients will increasingly expect to see efficiencies from firms’ use of the technology.
Looking ahead, Creely emphasized the importance of adapting as AI changes how legal and professional services are delivered. “Our goal is to continue to provide outstanding and effective services to our clients, while also being on the cutting edge of some of the changes that are happening in the industry.”
