Foley & Lardner LLP represented MinutaIA, a Brazilian AI-powered legal technology company, in its acquisition by JusBrasil, Latin America’s largest legaltech platform. The transaction expands JusBrasil’s suite of artificial intelligence solutions for the legal market.
Founded by Caio Perona, a lawyer with a longstanding interest in computer science, MinutaIA provides generative AI tools designed to assist legal professionals with drafting, legal research, and other legal workflows. The platform has grown rapidly since its launch and today serves more than 1,000 law firms and approximately 180 public institutions, including courts such as the São Paulo Court of Justice, as well as other government entities.
JusBrasil operates the world’s most-accessed legal information platform, with over 25 million unique users per month, more than 80% of Brazilian lawyers registered on its platform, and a database of over seven billion legal documents. The acquisition combines JusBrasil’s scale, legal data, and distribution with MinutaIA’s AI-powered drafting and workflow technology as JusBrasil continues to expand its artificial intelligence offerings.
Following the transaction, Perona will become a partner at JusBrasil, while MinutaIA will continue to operate independently under its current brand with its existing product and team.
