Austin Kim Authors Article on AI-Generated Data and Patent Protection
Foley & Lardner LLP senior counsel Austin Kim authored the Clinical Supply Leader article, “AI-Generated Data, Patent Protection, And The Implications For Clinical Supply,” on the role of AI-generated data in drug and diagnostic development and clinical supply planning.
The article analyzes how AI-generated data can support biomedical research, inform supply forecasting and logistics, and help support patent strategies for diagnostics and therapeutics, while also examining intellectual property and regulatory considerations associated with increasing AI adoption in the life sciences industry.
He writes, “The operational question for clinical supply leaders is therefore not simply whether AI-generated data is accurate but when that data becomes reliable enough to influence supply decisions. Using those signals too early can introduce new uncertainty, while waiting too long can leave teams with less time to adjust manufacturing, inventory, and distribution plans.”
