Foley & Lardner LLP partner Patrick Daugherty participated in a panel discussion for CFO Dive’s “Future of Finance” event examining SEC’s regulatory landscape and its impact on public companies.
In the article, “4 top takeaways from CFO Live 2026,” Daugherty observed that the current environment is “night and day” compared with recent years. He also highlighted the growing complexity of disclosure requirements, remarking that compensation disclosures today “now exceed the entire length of disclosure documents produced in the 1980s.”
On the impact of recent regulatory shifts, Daugherty said, “Is there whiplash? Well, that word implies sudden change.” “But the reverse is not so. Deregulation is not painful.”
