Calkidan (Calkie) Fisseha provides clients with practical advice on various energy and financial matters. She is a member of Foley’s Finance Practice Group and sits in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office.
Calkie began at Foley as a 1L summer associate. Calkie previously worked as a student attorney at the Georgetown Social Enterprise & Nonprofit Law Clinic where she provided guidance to a local nonprofit organization. Prior to law school, Calkie was an intellectual property assistant at a firm in Washington, D.C.
Representative Experience
- Served as borrower’s counsel for Bridge Renewable Energy in a portfolio financing to support the construction of a 40 MW distributed energy solar and battery storage portfolio.
- Served as sponsor counsel for an approximately $75M preferred equity investment in a portfolio of distributed energy solar and battery storage projects.
- Represented a tax equity investor in an approximately $155.7M investment in a 150 MW Illinois solar facility.
- Represented a tax equity investor in an approximately $93.3M investment in a 100 MW Indiana solar facility.
- Served as lender’s counsel for a financing to support the construction of a 20 MW solar portfolio in Illinois.
- Served as borrower’s counsel for a financing to support the construction of a 10 MW distributed energy solar and battery storage portfolio in Texas.
- Represented Deutsche Bank in connection with an approximately $200M debt facility for a solar portfolio.
- Served as lender’s counsel in connection with a sale-leaseback financing for solar projects in New Jersey, Connecticut, and Massachusetts.
