Chiara I. Pierobon Mays
Associate
Chiara Pierobon Mays is an associate whose experience includes restructuring, bankruptcy, and insolvency-related matters. She previously assisted in representing debtors and other stakeholders in complex chapter 11 proceedings, including cases across various industries that consisted of billions of dollars in liabilities. Her work revolved around performing bankruptcy-focused legal research, drafting first day motions and related relief briefs, and working alongside financial advisors, investment bankers, and creditors committees to move cases toward confirmation, typically in highly contested and adversarial environments. Chiara has also committed part of her practice to pro bono matters for non-profit or early-stage companies.
Prior to entering private practice, Chiara gained experience through the University of Wisconsin Government & Legislative Clinic, where she clerked at the Wisconsin Department of Revenue, conducting legal research and preparing memoranda addressing tax, bankruptcy, and constitutional issues in order to advise DOR attorneys on strategy and compliance in active matters. She also participated in the University of Wisconsin Law & Entrepreneurship Clinic, counseling early-stage Wisconsin based companies. Chiara also completed a summer law clerk position at Lawton & Cates in Madison, where she drafted briefs, pleadings and legal research memorandum in consumer rights and personal injury matters, as well as conducting client intake interviews and preparing for depositions.
Before law school, Chiara spent a year in health care operations as an implementation coordinator at Navitus Health Solutions, a Madison based pharmacy benefit manager. She has also gained experience in wealth management during an internship with Robert W. Baird & Co., where she helped to build portfolio performance and investment strategy materials for financial advisors.
As a Madison native, Chiara is invested in the growth of companies across the state and greater Midwest, and is particularly drawn to the region’s expanding wellness, health food, and consumer health startup scene.
