John C. Vetter

John C. Vetter was a partner and intellectual property lawyer with Foley & Lardner LLP. He represented clients in patent and trademark litigation matters before federal courts, the International Trade Commission, and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He counseled clients on a broad range of intellectual property issues, including antitrust, pre‑litigation and transactional due diligence, licensing and licensing demands, mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and investments, freedom‑to‑operate matters, patent prosecution and interferences, trade secrets, Lanham Act matters and related unfair competition issues, supply agreements, and opinions. John was a member of the firm’s IP Litigation Practice.
With an extraordinarily broad range of subject‑matter experience, John’s practice spanned industries from biotechnology to telecommunications. He represented clients in the fiber optics and optoelectronics fields beginning in 2000 and had significant experience representing pharmaceutical companies in Hatch‑Waxman litigation, including drafting opinions, Paragraph IV certifications, and providing strategic counseling. He also represented pharmaceutical companies in related antitrust actions, including matters involving state attorneys general offices and counsel for various purchaser classes.
