Matt Korfhage brings a strong technical background in electrical and computer engineering to his role as a patent agent at Foley. He has experience working in the manufacturing, robotics, and automotive sectors, with a particular specialization in real-time embedded control systems, cryptography, and mixed-signal electronics.
As a registered patent agent, Matt represents and advises clients in preparing and prosecuting patent applications both domestically in the United States and internationally. Matt also provides expertise in post-grant patent prosecution, where he assists attorneys in drafting opinions to invalidate opposing patents, allowing clients to mitigate IP infringement risks. Matt provides patent expertise in a broad range of technology areas, including:

While pursuing his engineering degree, Matt served as a robotics engineering consultant for Direct Supply Inc., where he led a team of three engineers in designing and simulating an autonomous robotic nurse for post-acute care. He honed his automation and control systems knowledge through controls engineering internships at both a packaging machinery manufacturer and a precision hydraulic components company.
