David Cabrales Receives Outstanding Clinic Coordinator Award from Dallas Bar Association
Foley & Lardner LLP of counsel David Cabrales was presented with the Dallas Bar Association’s Outstanding Clinic Coordinator Pro Bono Award for his partnership with firm clients to staff the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program’s (DVAP) Veterans Legal Clinic.
Interviewed for the January 2025 edition of the Dallas Bar Association’s Headnotes publication, Cabrales described his commitment to pro bono service. “Through our training and licensing, we lawyers have been given a wonderful opportunity to be stewards of our legal system,” he said. “With that opportunity comes a responsibility to help ensure that everyone has meaningful access to that system, particularly those who have already served us in uniform or as a family member of someone in uniform.”
Cabrales has overseen and expanded Foley’s engagement with the DVAP Veterans Legal Clinic for seven years, facilitating collaboration between Foley attorneys and client legal teams. These clinics provide legal intake and assistance to military veterans and their dependents, offering meaningful access to legal counsel and benefits.
“Our joint Veterans Clinic outings have allowed our clients to see us in a different light
than merely as another one of their legal service providers,” he continued. “It is hard to overstate the bonds that you create, working alongside someone in a volunteer effort.”
Cabrales, listed among the honorees in The Texas Lawbook, received the Outstanding Clinic Coordinator Award at the Dallas Bar Association’s Pro Bono Awards luncheon on October 24, 2025.
