Joleen Cheah
Patent Agent I
Joleen Cheah is a patent agent in Foley’s Silicon Valley office and a member of the firm’s Chemical, Biotechnology & Pharmaceutical Practice. She manages patent portfolios for multiple clients and advises on aligning intellectual property strategies with business goals. Joleen prepares and prosecutes U.S. and international patent applications in biotechnology, including devices, therapeutics, and diagnostics.
Prior to becoming a patent agent, Joleen was a graduate researcher at Stanford University, where she focused on protein engineering and molecular biology. Her work included developing light-activated proximity labeling enzymes and profiling translocating proteins. She has authored and peer-reviewed scientific publications and collaborated across research labs.
