Laura Ganoza Featured in Law360 Spotlight – 'You Learn Something New in Every Case'
Foley & Lardner LLP partner Laura Ganoza discusses her career path and intellectual property practice in Law360‘s “She Has a Point” series.
Reflecting on her career journey, Ganoza credited an early trademark project with sparking her interest in IP law. “The more I did the prosecution work, the more enforcement work I got to do, and then I was doing IP litigation more and more and more,” she told Law360.
Today, Ganoza serves as chair of Foley’s fashion, apparel and beauty team, serving as a trusted advisor to a variety of national and international clients across the industry.
Of her practice, she said, “I really love the trademark work,” citing her interest in “consumer loyalty and branding” and the strength of well-known brands. Ganoza added, “It’s very intellectually challenging and interesting. You learn something new in every case because you’re always dealing with a new technology or a new campaign if it’s an advertising issue.”
Looking ahead, she noted progress IP litigation, saying, “I do think it’s changing. It’s going in the right direction.”
As part of that progress, Ganoza highlighted the creation of Foley’s Women of Color affinity group, describing it as “one of the things I take the most pride in in my professional career.” She said the group has become “a great way for people to learn about each other’s practices and stay in touch even when you’re in different offices and different practice groups.”
