Natural Gas Intelligence
Foley & Lardner LLP Partner Terrell Miller was featured in the article, “AI Still Has Much to Learn About Humans in Natural Gas and Oil Industry,” in Natural Gas Intelligence discussing the potential legal issues AI systems carry for businesses in the oil and gas industry, as well as the risk and liability exposure businesses face when deploying AI.
Noting that AI systems are subject to IP protections, Miller stated that their use “in the oil and gas industry comes with very real concerns of third-party intellectual property infringement, such as patent infringement. […] As such, it’s important to clear any use of AI systems against existing registered intellectual property or third parties.”
