Foley Partner Antoinette Konski was quoted in an article that appeared in the San Jose Mercury News on May 22, 2010 titled “Legal challenge between Palo Alto company, Orange County hospital halts stem cell research.” Konski discusses how scientific patents can stimulate research by attracting private capital investment, stating that successful research is needed to support expensive experimental trials and insure safe products in the market. She adds that the public has full access to the research once the 20-year patent expires.
