Associate

Abdullah Akhtar is an Associate in the Intellectual Property Department with Foley & Lardner LLP.  Abdullah is based in the firm’s Boston office, where he is a member of the firm’s Intellectual Property Electronics Group. His practice covers patent preparation and prosecution, freedom to operate analysis, intellectual property due diligence, portfolio development, and patent invalidity.

Abdullah has experience across a diverse range of fields, including electrical, computer, telecommunications, electromechanics, power electronics, semiconductors, and business methods. In addition, Abdullah has a deep understanding of the complexities of Intellectual Property law and works with clients to identify novel and non-obvious features of the claimed inventions, examine existing prior art, and combine patentable elements in patent applications.

Prior to joining Foley, Abdullah was an Associate at a well-established law firm specializing in prosecution of patent applications. He offered a comprehensive range of services, including developing responses to US Office Actions, performing patent analysis, drafting patent applications, and providing litigation support, among others.

In law school, Abdullah was a member of the Moot Court Honors Council. Abdullah is also a proud member of Tau Beta Pi, the nation’s oldest engineering honor society.
