Litigation: Our New York litigation attorneys concentrate on commercial litigation in both state and federal courts as well as arbitration, mediation, and alternative dispute resolution, with a focus on hedge funds, financial services, and professional liability. During the past several years, we have handled cases involving commercial contracts, antitrust, construction delays, leases, banking relationships, sports, entertainment and media, suretyship, insurance, products liability, bankruptcy, IP, franchise litigation, Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) matters, and various business disputes. Additionally, we have extensive experience in securities enforcement, regulatory, and white collar criminal defense work. 

Trademark and Copyright: Our New York office also has a substantial practice focusing on trademark and copyright enforcement and litigation. As part of Foley's nationally recognized and ranked IP Litigation Practice, this focused team of attorneys represents national and multinational corporate clients in enforcement, litigation, and related counseling work on trademark, trade dress, copyright, trade secret, and advertising matters.

Business Law: We also provide comprehensive legal advice and counseling in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, venture capital transactions, bankruptcy and business reorganizations, real estate, trusts and estates, employment, and general business and not-for-profit matters, including formation, finance, and operation.

Sports Industry: Our Sports team in New York is led by former Major League Baseball (MLB) President and Chief Operating Officer Bob DuPuy and focuses on the representation of buyers and sellers in sports franchise sales transactions and restructurings, including related financing and navigation of league requirements in connection with these transactions; stadium construction, rehabilitation, and financing; media and new media contracts and licensing, syndication, and participation agreements, as well as other related business and legal issues.

Energy Industry: Our Energy attorneys represent lenders, developers, investors, equipment suppliers, contractors, electric utilities and other financial parties in various independent energy financings, involving co-generation facilities, wind-powered electric generating facilities, solar energy projects, and other renewable and alternative energy facilities.

Foley has been engaged to represent lender, Bancorp, in connection with $75MM defaulted beachfront hotel development project, Seabreeze, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida to enforce rights in connection with the collateral, workout, and settlement discussions, litigation, and any bankruptcy filing.
Foley was engaged by Glas America, as indenture trustee, in connection with Boston Chicken, which previously restructured under Chapter 11.
Represented an international automotive equipment manufacturer in an economic sanctions and export controls inquiry brought by the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission's Office of Global Security Risk ("OGSR").
