Business globalization is quickly driving companies into new territories, and these emerging markets are enticing companies to corruption and bribery practices. Sharie Brown, a partner in Foley’s Washington, D.C. office, was quoted on this topic in the article, “Implications of Foreign Corrupt Practices Act for Multinational Companies” in the July issue of the Financier Worldwide. Brown was quoted on the issue involving the amount of payment that can be made to foreign officials in the form of facilitation or ‘grease’ payments — exceptions to antibribery prohibitions. She was also quoted on what businesses are doing to receive a fair settlement from enforcement authorities.
