Jeffrey Thrope Brings Deep Health Care Provider Experience.
Foley announced today that Jeffrey C. Thrope has joined the firm as a partner in the New York office, working in the Health Care Industry Team. Prior to joining Foley, Thrope practiced at Manatt Phelps & Phillips LLP.
Often acting as general counsel for his clients, Thrope’s practice focuses on representing hospitals, nursing homes, publicly operated health facilities, not-for-profit organizations and other health care providers in the full range of legal, regulatory and technology issues that arise in the health care marketplace, including an emphasis on working with hospitals and local governments to develop operational and financing plans for health care institutions. Thrope was also instrumental in developing and implementing structures for the assisted living industry as it expanded into New York.
Drawing on Foley’s deep, national health care experience for his clients, Thrope will also help expand the health care capabilities of the firm’s New York office.
“After practicing in the health care field for more than 25 years, I look forward to the support and expertise of my new colleagues, and the ability to continue providing the highest quality services to my clients through Foley’s comprehensive heath care platform,” explained Thrope. “It will be exciting to help the firm expand its already strong presence in the health care industry, while I also continue working with governments, not-for-profits and educational entities to seek creative solutions for their respective needs in today’s challenging marketplace.”
“Working with a variety of health care providers for more than 25 years, Jeff continues to be at the forefront of the health care industry’s development, bringing unique insight and a results-oriented approach to our clients during a pivotal time for them,” said Mark Waxman, chair of Foley Health Care Industry Team. “Jeff has spearheaded efforts that have impacted how entire segments of the health care industry do business, and we look forward to the contributions he will make here.”
“We remain focused on expanding and strengthening practices in New York in which the firm already has a strong national reputation, and Jeff will be a great asset to our Health Care Industry Team as we continue to expand our capabilities in New York,” said Peter Wang, managing partner of Foley’s New York office.
Thrope joins the firm following the recent additions of Barry Mandel, former co-head of Global Litigation, Employment and Regulatory Affairs for Merrill Lynch & Co., Inc., and energy and infrastructure attorneys Howard Margulis and Ellen Wolchek, who all reside in the New York office.
