Anderson Brings Domestic and International Experience in Energy and Infrastructure Project Finance and Development.
Foley announced today that Robert B. Anderson has joined the firm as a partner in the San Francisco office, working with the Finance & Financial Institutions Practice and the Energy Industry Team. Prior to joining Foley, Anderson was a partner at Nixon Peabody LLP.
Anderson focuses his practice on a wide range of finance and project development matters. His finance experience includes working with lenders, borrowers, and other participants in structuring, negotiating, and documenting finance transactions, as well as restructuring financings that have become distressed. In the project development area, Anderson works with developers, finance providers, and strategic partners on a variety of energy and infrastructure projects, including power plants, oil and gas pipelines, and industrial facilities.
“As companies continue to face complex legal, financing, regulatory, and contractual issues in the evolving energy and infrastructure sectors, experienced attorneys like Bob are becoming increasingly important in the structuring and documenting of transactions,” said Charles V. Hedrick, chair of Foley’s Finance & Financial Institutions Practice. “He is a valued addition to our team and we look forward to his contributions.”
Active in renewable energy and traditional power projects, Anderson has represented solar and wind energy developers, solid waste companies, and biofuel and diesel facility developers. In addition to the financing of such projects, Anderson has handled entity formation and capitalization, site acquisition, EPC agreements, off-take agreements, power purchase agreements, O&M contracts, and supply feedstock contracts.
Anderson has also represented clients on a variety of energy and infrastructure projects in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. In addition to working with commercial lenders and developers, Anderson has secured financing through government entities such as the Department of Energy, Export-Import Bank, and Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC).
“Given Bob’s relationships abroad and vast experience dealing with a wide range of transactions in the alternative energy space, he will be a tremendous asset to our clients not only in this market, but across the state of California and nationally,” said Eileen R. Ridley, managing partner of Foley’s San Francisco office. “He is a welcome addition to our growing team of business law attorneys here in San Francisco.”
Anderson is a member of the California Bar Association, where he has served on the Uniform Commercial Code Committee and Financial Institutions Committee. He is a member of the San Francisco Bank Attorneys Association, a member of the PLI Advisory Committee on Banking and Financial Services, and former board member of the International Bankers Association of California. He is also active in the Association of Corporate Growth’s San Francisco Chapter.
Anderson’s arrival marks the latest expansion of Foley’s growing Energy Industry Team. He is the seventh attorney with a focus in the alternative energy space the firm has added in the past seven months.
