Francisco Cerezo Brings Extensive Experience in Corporate and International Matters.
Foley announced today that Francisco J. Cerezo has joined the firm as partner in the Miami office, where he will serve as chair of the Latin America Practice and as a member of the Transactional & Securities and International Practices. Previously, Cerezo was a shareholder at Greenberg Traurig, LLP in Miami.
Cerezo focuses his practice on domestic and international business matters, including cross-border transactions, public-private partnerships, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, divestitures, joint ventures, fund formation and management, and general corporate counseling. He advises a wide variety of companies, both U.S. and international, as well as shareholder groups and sovereigns doing business in the Americas and the Caribbean.
“Francisco’s wide-ranging experience in corporate and international matters will be a tremendous asset to our clients, particularly those doing business in Latin America,” said Jay Rothman, chair of the firm’s Transactional & Securities Practice. “As Foley continues to expand its transactional work across the globe, Francisco’s deep knowledge of business opportunities in Latin America will be a critical resource.”
Cerezo has extensive experience representing Latin American companies, as well as companies doing business in the region, in a variety of corporate and transactional matters. He will work closely with attorneys throughout the firm specializing in Latin America, including V. Manuel Rocha, who joined Foley’s Miami office in 2009 as senior advisor on international business and previously served as U.S. ambassador to Bolivia. Cerezo will also collaborate with Miami partner Guillermo J. Fernández-Quincoces based on his substantial international tax practice.
“We are thrilled that Francisco has joined our Miami office as he will have many opportunities here to advise local and foreign clients on corporate and Latin American matters,” said William Davis, managing partner of Foley’s Miami office. “He is a valued addition to our team and we look forward to his contributions.”
“I am excited to be joining Foley and look forward to collaborating with the firm’s many talented attorneys working in Latin America to expand our service to clients in the region,” said Cerezo. “Foley provides me a unique opportunity to further develop my corporate and international practice, while also leading the growth and development of the Latin America practice.”
