Foley is pleased to announce that Maureen McGinnity and Michael (Mick) Hatch, partners in the firm’s Milwaukee office, have been selected as “Leaders in the Law” by Wisconsin Law Journal. This honor recognizes select attorneys who demonstrate outstanding leadership, vision and legal expertise, as well as important pro bono work and improvement of the Wisconsin community.
While they each bring unique talents and experience to their respective roles, McGinnity and Hatch share passion, loyalty and hard work serving their clients and the community. Both have earned the respect of colleagues through a strong dedication to professional achievement and commitment to making the region a better place to live and work.
McGinnity is Chief Diversity Partner at Foley and in this role manages development of the firm’s diversity program. She played a lead role in structuring the firm’s diversity business development department, which provides business planning assistance and supplemental mentoring to diverse attorneys. McGinnity is also involved in women’s career advancement in the community as a member of the board of Milwaukee Women inc., an organization working to change the face of corporate leadership by diversifying corporate boards. Leading by example, she has served as chair of the board of governors of the State Bar of Wisconsin and president of the Association for Women Lawyers, and is a member of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee board of trustees. Additionally, McGinnity is well regarded as one of Wisconsin’s top tax lawyers, having advocated for clients before the Wisconsin Supreme Court, the United States Tax Court and the Wisconsin Tax Appeals Commission.
Through his more than 37 years of real estate law work, demonstrated community leadership and pro bono successes, Hatch has made a lasting impact in Southeastern Wisconsin. He has served as lead counsel for billions of dollars of real estate transactions, including some of the most significant development efforts in Milwaukee. Hatch has also contributed to the community through decades of volunteer and pro bono work on prominent economic, real estate and neighborhood redevelopment initiatives. He was part of a small group of community leaders who established Menomonee Valley Partners, Inc. to facilitate redevelopment of the Menomonee Valley and now acts as president of the board of directors and pro bono legal counsel. Additionally, Hatch was one of the original members of the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) Milwaukee Advisory Board, a nonprofit dedicated to revitalizing neighborhoods and building sustainable communities, and continues to serve on the executive board and the credit committees.
