The article discussed a False Claims Act (FCA) case brought against Duke University Health System and one of its researchers, amounting to one of the largest FCA suits to focus on research misconduct in academia. The piece detailed whistleblower claims against universities involving allegations of scientific misconduct. Young was quoted saying, “An important concept [is that] you can have research misconduct without having a false claim.”
