Scott Ellis Recommends What Associates Should Consider Before Accepting a Job Offer
Foley & Lardner LLP Partner Scott Ellis is quoted in the Law360 article, “5 Things To Ask About A Firm Before Accepting A Job Offer,” offering advice on what associates should consider while considering job offers.
Ellis said, “Finding a firm that invests in you as much as you invest in the firm is critical to developing the skills that you did not acquire in law school, and that are essential to a successful practice.”
He recommends establishing relationships with mentors at a firm early on, as they are important to an associate’s growth and development.
“You want to find a firm that sees you as a future leader, and who is willing to help you get there,” he said.
Ellis noted it is important to know the firm’s feedback process, and explained that “one of the big benefits of working for a firm is that you get that mentorship and feedback on a regular basis, so that you can advance quickly in your career so that you can take on more responsibility and better yourself as a lawyer.”
