Foley & Lardner LLP Partner Craig Dillard is quoted in the Insider article, “The race to make electric cars cheaper is making electric cars more expensive,” discussing the impact of lithium availability on electric vehicle (EV) pricing.
Lithium is an essential raw material for EV batteries, and Dillard said, “You’re going to have more and more people trying to source larger quantities of the supply of lithium to make sure that they have whatever they need to operate for the next fiscal year.”
“They need to be thinking about where the material is sourced, and how much the price of lithium impacts not only their profitability, but also pricing in general for their products,” Dillard explained.
