Foley & Lardner LLP Jonathan Israel is quoted in The American Lawyer’s “Deal Watch” on the continued growth of opportunities for legal work in collegiate sports.
“There are large revenue sharing and employment issues, and people at the schools and conferences don’t know what to do,” said Israel, who is chair of Foley’s Sports & Entertainment Group. ”The money is being chased, and that chase is being informed by litigation, not by Congress or the NCAA.”
Israel added that employment, antitrust, litigation and, of course, deal matters are all exploding in college sports conferences right now.
