Gregory Husisian Shares How Fashion and Beauty Companies Can Prepare for Tariffs
Foley & Lardner LLP partner Gregory Husisian shared recommendations for how companies can mitigate the impact of evolving trade policy shift in the Vogue Business articles “How fashion and beauty are preparing for triple-threat tariffs,” and “How a global trade war could rewire the way fashion operates.”
Husisian, co-chair of Foley’s International Trade & National Security Practice, said that brands should develop and maintain a database of pre-approved secondary suppliers to ensure they are prepared to adjust their supply chains at a moment’s notice.
He noted that legal challenges of the latest U.S. tariffs are inevitable, but any result will likely take years to materialize. Pointing out pathways for recourse, including the U.S. Court of International Trade and the World Trade Organization, Husisian said these mechanisms are “slow moving,” and impractical for fashion brand confronting immediate cost pressures.
For now, fashion companies should prepare for a period of uncertainty, Husisian added, with sourcing strategies and pricing decisions shaped by evolving U.S. trade policy.
