Foley & Lardner LLP partner Omar Lucia commented in S&P Global’s article, “Private Equity Deal Volume Falls 22% YOY in Q1 2026,” assessing trends in the private equity market.
The article notes that geopolitical uncertainty and valuation pressures continue to slow deal activity, even as private equity firms remain active in select sectors.
“Uncertainty has an impact on getting deals done,” Lucia, co-chair of the firm’s Private Equity Practice, explained. “There’s a bit of a heightened sense of scrutiny and wanting a little bit more [time] to validate what you might hear from a target to be able to satisfy the request of lenders and your investment committee.”
