Foley Represents Corendon Hotels & Resorts in Acquisition of Two Miami Beach Hotels
Foley & Lardner LLP represented Corendon Hotels & Resorts in its acquisition of two hotels in Miami Beach, Florida, which Corendon has rebranded following the acquisition as Corendon South Beach Miami and Corendon Beach Plaza – South Beach Miami.
The hotel acquisitions mark an important milestone in the international growth of Netherlands-based Corendon, a vertically integrated travel group whose businesses span hotels and resorts, tour operations, and Corendon Airlines, bringing the Corendon brand to the United States for the first time and expanding its portfolio beyond Europe, Turkey, and the Caribbean.
Located on iconic Collins Avenue and surrounded by Miami Beach’s celebrated Art Deco architecture, Corendon South Beach Miami and Corendon Beach Plaza – South Beach Miami place guests in South Beach’s vibrant heart, steps from Ocean Drive and the beach.
In addition to advising on the acquisition, Foley assisted Corendon with the corporate structuring necessary to establish a domestic hotel management company to self-manage the properties and position the company for future expansion in the United States. Foley also advised on the employment structuring and employee benefit plans needed to support the hotels’ U.S. workforce.
Foley’s team was led by partner Jamie Zimmer, with support from associate Max Atchity and partner Pamela Brown on real estate and title matters, associate Massa Almufti on corporate matters, and of counsel Mark Neuberger and partner Casey Knapp on labor and employment and employee benefits matters.
