S&P Global Market Intelligence
Foley & Lardner LLP partner Stephen Olson was quoted in the S&P Global Market Intelligence article, “Private equity deal value drops 47% YOY in Q3 2026,” which examines the decline in global private equity and venture capital deal activity.
Discussing current market conditions, Olson noted that “institutional investors, or limited partners, are increasingly demanding actual returns from their investments before committing additional capital.”
“Liquidity is still a big issue,” he added. “We have been in a period where cash wasn’t necessarily being returned to investors. DPI (distributions to paid-in capital) was not great. And people were using other financing, such as continuation vehicles to extend that runway.”
