Mariah Barfield is a Senior Public Affairs Advisor and Practice Director for Foley & Lardner LLP’s Florida Government Solutions Practice. In this role, she oversees the day-to-day operations of the practice while providing strategic support to clients navigating Florida’s legislative, regulatory, and political landscape. Mariah works closely with business leaders, elected officials, agency leadership, and key government stakeholders to advance client objectives, address regulatory challenges, and develop effective public policy and advocacy strategies.

Mariah plays an integral role in supporting the firm’s Florida Government Solutions Practice through government affairs research, strategic communications, legislative and regulatory monitoring, advocacy initiatives, compliance efforts, and client engagement. She works with clients across a range of industries to navigate complex regulatory frameworks, monitor agency actions, evaluate policy developments, and identify opportunities to advance their business objectives. She also oversees the administration and operations of Foley’s Florida Political Action Committee, helping to strengthen the firm’s relationships within Florida’s political and business communities.

Prior to joining Foley, Mariah worked for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), where she served as a Senior Criminal Justice Information Technician. In that role, she collaborated extensively with state and local law enforcement agencies and members of the public throughout Florida. She analyzed complex criminal histories, interpreted and applied state and federal regulatory requirements, and communicated critical findings to support informed decision-making and regulatory compliance.

Drawing on her experience in both the public and private sectors, Mariah brings a unique perspective to government relations, regulatory affairs, and public policy. Her deep understanding of Florida’s governmental and regulatory processes, combined with her strong relationships across the state, enables her to help clients identify opportunities, navigate challenges, and achieve meaningful results. Mariah is dedicated to ensuring clients receive strategic counsel and exceptional support as they pursue their business, regulatory, and public policy goals.
