Matthew E. Korfhage

Patent Engineer

Matt Korfhage brings a strong background in computer engineering to his role as a patent engineer at Foley. He has experience working in the manufacturing and automotive sectors and has a particular specialization in real-time embedded control systems.

While pursuing his degree, Matt served as a robotics engineering consultant for Direct Supply Inc., where he led a team of three engineers in designing and simulating an autonomous robotic nurse for post-acute care.

He honed his automation and control systems knowledge through controls engineering internships at both a packaging machinery manufacturer and a precision hydraulic components company.

As a computer engineering student, Matt gained additional hands-on experience as an undergraduate research coordinator for the Embedded Systems Club, where his team’s research in experimental swarm robotics was published at the 2024 Midwest Instruction and Computing Symposium. Matt is also passionate about youth STEM programs and regularly volunteers for the FIRST Robotics Competition.
