Abdias J. Montelus
Special Counsel
Abdias J. Montelus is an attorney in the Litigation Department of Foley & Lardner LLP. He is based in the firm’s Miami office and focuses his practice on construction, real property, and business litigation. He advises clients in all stages of litigation, including pre-suit investigations, settlement negotiations, discovery, alternative dispute resolution, and trial.
Prior to joining Foley, Abdias was an associate at the West Palm Beach office of a national civil litigation firm where he represented Fortune 500 retail and hospitality companies in matters concerning negligence, wrongful death, defamation, product defect, contractual, legal malpractice, commercial landlord/tenant, fraud, and insurance disputes.

- Obtained dismissal with prejudice on behalf of Miami-based condominium association against U.S. rental car company in a negligence action.
- Represented Miami-based national transportation and logistics company in negligence, breach of contract, and wrongful death disputes.
- Represented national wholesale retailer in premises liability, negligence, and breach of contract disputes.
- Represented largest pharmacy retailer in the U.S. in commercial landlord/tenant, premises liability, negligence, and indemnification suits.
- Represented auto retailers in property damage suits.
- Represented major sports arena in premises liability and vicarious liability suit.
- Represented largest North American staging and event production company in negligence suit.
- Represented labor union in catastrophic premises liability and vicarious liability suit.
- Represented Florida county against largest American property, casualty, and auto insurance provider in negligence and subrogation suit.
- Represented building material wholesaler in premises liability and negligence suits.
