Foley & Lardner recently celebrated the four-year anniversary of our national partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA), which supports the organization’s national youth leadership development strategy through programs and initiatives that open doors for the next generation to thrive.
Our partnership is driven by the engagement of our attorneys and business professionals who create unforgettable experiences for youth at local Clubs by engaging in activities that blend leadership, skill-building, advocacy, and community engagement. This includes our BGCA Author Series, launched in 2023, which invites celebrated children’s authors to local Clubs, where they lead interactive readings and discussions.

This summer, Foley presented a special anniversary edition of our Author Series with a three-city tour featuring author Paulina Seguí Vizcaíno and her empowering book Soy y Pertenezco (I am, I belong), which debuted in Mexico City in 2024. Seguí Vizcaíno engaged with Club kids in Chicago, Madison, and Milwaukee, bringing the themes of identity, belonging, and self-expression to life through story time and hands-on crafts. These activities ignited powerful moments of creativity, connection, and inspiration for the Club kids and Foley volunteers alike.

The 84 Club participants each received a Spanish and English language copy of Soy y Pertenezco, for which Foley funded the translation into English to broaden its reach. This was the sixth installment of our BGCA Author Series that has featured five authors across eight cities in the United States and Mexico (and showings of the recordings in many more).
This (inter)national initiative is a great way to engage with our local Clubs, provide age-appropriate books to Club kids, and support youth development.
