Judge Steps Down from Dispute After Disclosing Family Assets with Amegy Bank
December 7, 2012
Law360 reported that Judge Robert Schaffer stepped down from a dispute between Amegy Bank NA and Host Hotels & Resorts LP after disclosing that his family holds assets with the bank. Judge Schaffer told Law360 that although he didn't believe members of his family holding large deposits with Amegy would influence his rulings, he was becoming increasingly uncomfortable about presiding over the case without giving attorneys for Host Hotels the option to ask him to recuse himself.
Amegy Bank is represented by Gardere Attorneys Geoffrey H. Bracken, Rhonda Reed Weiner and Mike Seely.
