Although several state attorneys general have embraced privacy enforcement as a focus in the past, founding chair of Foley’s Privacy, Security & Information Management Practice Andrew Serwin predicts the recent adoption of online privacy protection as a priority by the National Association of Attorneys General will quickly turn this issue into a wide-spread goal at the state level. Given this he emphasizes that companies should be aware of state legislation and enforcement penalties now more than ever.
