Partner Jennifer Rathburn was interviewed on Milwaukee Public Radio’s ‘Lake Effect’ show for a segment titled “Could the Internet of Things Put Your Security at Risk?”
During the 13-minute interview, Rathburn discussed a range of cybersecurity issues with internet-connected devices and what consumers and businesses need to watch out for when they connect their devices together using internet and data.
She explained what security researchers learn at hacker conferences, as well as the importance for consumers to understand how data is collected and used through their connected devices (including Fitbits) and what rights consumers have to control that data. She also touched on Big Data and how companies aggregate consumer data, the Internet of Things Cybersecurity Improvement Act of 2017, the importance of consumers making device updates and the number one thing for consumers to do to avoid being hacked.
