Partner Harold Kaplan has been awarded the Jewish National Fund-USA’s President’s Award, the organization’s highest honor.
Kaplan, the organization’s vice president of administration and compliance, was honored in part for heading a committee that updated and modernized the JNF-USA’s corporate structure and governing documents to reflect modern practices and the new realities of its expanding role as an independent, national, multiproject-driven organization focused on the future and development of the land and people of Israel. He was also recognized for his leadership in updating the organization’s 93-year-old certificate of incorporation and bylaws to more accurately reflect the JNF-USA of today.
“Harold worked in partnership with JNF-USA’s many stakeholders, ensuring a seamless restructure while preserving our historical roots,” JNF-USA President Dr. Sol Lizerbram said in presenting the award to Kaplan at the organization’s October 18 virtual national conference. “There’s no one whom we believe is more deserving of this recognition today than Harold Kaplan.”
Kaplan, in accepting the award, noted that Lizerbram had mandated the committee to look at the organization’s corporate bylaws and structure at least once a century, and added, “I look forward to reconvening the committee at that time.”
Kaplan leads Foley’s Corporate Trust and Bondholders Rights Team and is a member of the firm’s Bankruptcy & Business Reorganizations Practice.
