Foley Builds on California Momentum with Life Sciences Transactions Partner Jane Adams
Latest San Diego hire strengthens the firm’s technology transactions bench and Health Care & Life Sciences Sector capabilities
Foley & Lardner LLP announced today that life sciences transactional partner Jane Adams has joined the firm’s Technology Transactions, Cybersecurity & Privacy Practice in San Diego. Her arrival marks the firm’s sixth partner addition in California this year and the fourth within its Intellectual Property Department, reflecting Foley’s continued growth and investment across the region.
Adams joins the firm from Cooley LLP, where she spent three decades advising public and privately held life sciences companies on a broad range of commercial and corporate matters. Her practice focuses on complex life sciences transactions, including strategic alliances, research and development collaborations, technology licenses and acquisitions, supply, distribution, and manufacturing agreements, profit-sharing and co-promotion arrangements, as well as mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance matters.
“Jane’s practice sits exactly where our clients need us most, at the point where intellectual property, commercial strategy, and long-term partnerships come together,” said Jen Urban, chair of Foley’s Technology Transactions, Cybersecurity & Privacy Practice Group. “Her experience in complex licensing, partnering, and other strategic transactions further strengthens our team and the counsel we provide to clients.”
Adams has extensive experience advising biotechnology, pharmaceutical, vaccine, medical technology, and diagnostics companies, as well as academic research institutions and nonprofit organizations engaged in pharmaceutical research and development. She works with business and scientific leaders on transactions that support the development and commercialization of innovative products and technologies.
“Jane is an outstanding addition to our San Diego office and a meaningful investment in the transactional and licensing depth our health care and life sciences clients rely on,” said Paul Hunter, managing partner of Foley’s San Diego office. “She reflects both the strength of that market and the momentum we have built across the state. We gladly welcome her to the firm.”
“Foley’s sector-level commitment to life sciences, supported by a culture built on collaboration, drew me to the firm,” said Adams. “Clients are navigating increasingly intricate business, intellectual property, and regulatory issues that rarely fit within a single discipline. Foley’s integrated platform brings those perspectives together, and I’m excited to partner with my new colleagues to help clients advance their business objectives.”
Adams joins Foley amid continued strategic growth across its California platform, following the recent additions of partners Matt Browne, Peter Stockburger, Darby Chan, and Sanj Dutta in February, and Travis Jang-Busby in May. Since spring 2025, the firm has added 12 partners in California.
