Foley Team Represents CUNA Mutual Group in $1.3 Billion Acquisition of Assurant’s Global Prearranged Funeral and Final Expense Business

A team of Foley lawyers represented CUNA Mutual Group, a broad financial services provider, in a definitive agreement to acquire Assurant’s prearranged funeral insurance and final expense business in the U.S. and Canada for approximately $1.3 billion in cash. The acquisition is expected to close by the end of the third quarter.
The investment enhances the solutions that CUNA Mutual Group provides to middle market consumers to help build financial stability. CUNA Mutual Group delivers an array of financial and insurance offerings through partners, including Assurant, protecting nearly 30 million consumers. The company has more than $28 billion in assets.
The Foley team was led by partners Ethan Lenz, Thomas Hrdlick and Maureen Easton.
