Cybersecurity Law Report
Foley & Lardner LLP Chanley Howell shared his insights with Cybersecurity Law Report for their four-part “Connected Cars” series, analyzing how the automotive industry collects and shares drivers’ information.
The series examines FTC enforcement related to connected vehicles, relevant legal frameworks, OEM compliance challenges and best practices, and connected‑car cybersecurity issues.
“Regulators are getting more aggressive and more particular about what consent looks like” and are requiring that it be truly “informed and transparent,” Howell commented on transparency and notice best practices regarding the collection, use, and sharing of connected car data.
